Timothy J. Koziol - Chairman - Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Koziol joined the company in January 2002 and was instrumental in the restructuring and refinance of GEM’s predecessor company, HES. In the turnaround process, Mr. Koziol implemented accounting controls and systems to monitor the day-to-day financial position of the company, changed operational policies to improve efficiencies, and implemented new sales and marketing programs to increase revenue. Prior to joining GEM, Mr. Koziol was a principal of Fortress Funding, Inc., an asset based lending company, where he was responsible for business development and underwriting.
Mr. Koziol was also a principal in Global Vantage, Ltd., an investment banking firm located in Newport Beach. Prior to his work in the financial services industry, Mr. Koziol managed a marketing consulting firm for national and regional clients. He has a BA from Wheaton College in Speech Communications and a MA (Magma Cum Laude) from the Wheaton Graduate School in Mass Communications.
Bill Mitzel - President - Chief Operating Officer
With over 25 years in the environmental management business, Mr. Mitzel’s experience and relationships will prove beneficial as GEM executes our business model. Mr. Mitzel’s most recent experience comes from Teris, where he served as vice president of operations and sales for the 13 western states. Prior to Teris, he was with Romic Environmental Technologies, where he held the positions of president and chairman of the board. Mr. Mitzel founded Safari Environmental Management Co. in 1997, and later sold it to US Liquids. He has also held various management positions with Rollins Environmental and Chemical Waste Management. He holds a BA in biology from Occidental College.
Brett Clark - Chief Financial Officer - Executive Vice President, Finance
Mr. Clark joined GEM in June 2005 as the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining GEM, Mr. Clark was the C.F.O. for Dayrunner, Inc., a privately held consumer products distribution company where he was responsible for the restructuring of the finance, information technology, and accounting functions in the company’s turnaround. Mr. Clark has been the C.F.O. for Tru Circle Corporation, Adams Rite Aerospace, Inc. and Chapman University. Mr. Clark has also held positions as Group Controller for Fleetwood Enterprises, a publicly traded Fortune 500 manufacturing company and Corporate Controller an Assistant Secretary for Aircal, Inc., a publicly traded airline. Prior to work in publicly traded firms and private enterprises, Mr. Clark worked for Deloitte & Touche. He holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California and became a C.P.A. in the State of California in 1975. Mr. Clark belongs to Financial Executives International, Orange County Chapter.
Clyde Rhodes - Chief Compliance Officer - Executive Vice President, Compliance - Vice President, Human Resources Development
Mr. Rhodes joined Hazpak Environmental Services (HES) in 2000 and was named President. Before joining HES, Mr. Rhodes was the Hazardous Waste Program Manager for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California for more than nine years. Mr. Rhodes has been in the environmental industry for a total of more than 15 years, developing environmental management programs, performing environmental audits and assisting public and private entities in meeting the myriad of state and federal environmental control laws and regulations. Mr. Rhodes possesses a BS in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and is a Registered Environmental Assessor in the State of California.
John Beale - Chief Sales & Marketing Officer - Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Mr. Beale brings more than 20 years of sales and marketing experience to GEM, specific to the environmental services industry. Prior to joining GEM in June of 2004, Mr. Beale was responsible for revenue generation for a number of environmental firms; from small regional service providers to multi-national companies, where he has enjoyed tremendous success. He brings a working knowledge of sales management systems and internal process flow, while keeping his team focused on providing customers with superior service and innovative management practices. Mr. Beale’s knowledge of the environmental marketplace is important as GEM continues to identify profitable niche opportunities. Mr. Beale holds a BS degree in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from Babson College located in Wellesley, MA.
Larry Fink - Vice President, Operations
Mr. Fink joined GEM in May of 2003. With more than 24 years in the environmental industry, Mr. Fink has extensive operations and business development experience. Before joining GEM, Mr. Fink was instrumental in developing and growing two other environmental services firms that emphasized high quality service. He was a senior manager responsible for building a regional environmental services provider and assisting in their acquisition by a national firm. Mr. Fink’s management skills and abilities to move industrial waste safely and expeditiously in compliance is well known throughout the west. Mr. Fink possesses a BS degree in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton.
